Genderflux

A gender identity in which the intensity of one's gender varies over time - for example, sometimes feeling fully female, sometimes agender, sometimes between. Genderflux may also describe fluctuation in intensity of a single gender rather than movement between different genders.

Gender + flux (Latin fluxus, continuous change).

Emerged in online non-binary communities in the early-to-mid 2010s. Flag designed by Tumblr user "campcounseling" in 2012.

• "Genderflux is the same as genderfluid." Genderfluid describes movement between genders; genderflux describes fluctuation in the intensity of gender - from full to partial to absent.
• "Genderflux people are inconsistent." The fluctuation itself is the consistent, recognizable pattern of the identity.
