History

Organized ally movements developed alongside LGBTQ+ activism from the 1970s onward. PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) was founded in 1972 by Jeanne Manford after marching with her gay son at a Pride parade. The straight ally flag emerged in the early 2000s.
