Reciprosexual & Recipromantic

Sexual (reciprosexual) or romantic (recipromantic) attraction that develops only after the other person has expressed attraction first. Considered part of the asexual/aromantic-adjacent spectrum, since it describes a conditional pattern of attraction rather than attraction directed at a particular gender.

Latin reciprocus (alternating, going back and forth) + sexual/romantic. Coined in online LGBTQ+ communities in the 2010s.

Emerged from AVEN and aromantic community discussions in the early 2010s as part of the broader project of naming variations in how attraction initiates. Often considered part of the ace/aro-adjacent spectrum as it describes a conditional pattern of attraction.
